Evening
format:
The beginners class starts at 8pm, where we teach you the
basic moves with an emphasis on technique and fundamentals.
After class there is a 'review class', an informal
session lead by Capital Swing
Taxi Dancers to
reinforce the basics. At 9pm the intermediate class
teaches you challenging moves, styling, and more advanced
techniques, taught at a quicker pace.
FAQs:
Absolute beginners are welcome at any point during the term.
The
calendar
page shows term dates. You don't need a
partner as we 'rotate' the class. Alternatively, couples are welcome to stay
together throughout the class, just let the teacher
know. Please wear comfortable clothing, comfortable
shoes with a small heel for ladies, avoid trainers. You don't need to book
in advance - just turn up at 8pm.
West Coast Swing
is a sophisticated dance style that
is HUGE in the USA, and is now very popular all over the
UK. It is fluid, expressive and funky, check out some
video
clips.
Its appeal is to both those wishing to learn how to dance, and also those
who have tried salsa, swing or ceroc and are looking for something
different. Danced to
R&B, pop, swing and soul, West Coast Swing has simple footwork,
slinky body movements, and a cool, relaxed style.
